At 40, I conceived my child naturally—a quiet miracle I never thought possible. Against all odds, life stirred within me, and in that instant, I became a mother.
It was December 25, 2023, when the illusion of control shattered in my hands. On a day meant for joy, I learned that my baby had a chromosomal issue, and his tiny kidneys, so vital and life-giving, would never develop. My heart cracked wide open. I had done everything right, every test, every check-up. And yet, at 20 weeks, the truth unfolded—a truth that no mother is ever prepared to face. The worst Christmas of my life arrived not with snow and lights but with the chilling certainty that my baby’s future was already slipping away.
The doctors spoke of incurability. They told me that even if he survived birth, his life would flicker and fade within a year. My mind understood. My heart, though, it lingered in a place of desperate hope, in a refusal to let go. How could I make peace with a decision no mother should ever have to make?
On January 11, 2024, I gave birth to my son. He entered this world, and just as swiftly, he left it. His life—a single, fragile breath in time. I held him, but I would never hear his cry. I would never see his first smile. During my stay in the hospital, the cries of other babies, the joyful murmurs of new mothers, echoed through the halls. I hid behind the curtain, quietly cradling the absence that was my son. I had borne the pain of bringing him into this world, but where was he? The emptiness that filled my arms was a sorrow that words cannot contain.
The universe remained silent, indifferent to my grief. And in the stillness, I found my answer—or rather, I let go of the need for one. Life doesn’t always offer explanations, it doesn’t always teach. Sometimes life is just life. There is no lesson hidden in the pain, no cosmic meaning to unravel. My son’s time was brief, a fleeting moment in the vastness of existence, and there was nothing more to be understood. He came, he left, and in that space, I learned to surrender—to let go of the need to fix, to control, to find reason where there is none.
His life was short, but I was still his mother. And I always will be. In the rhythm of nature, there is no good or bad, no fairness or cruelty. There is simply life, and there is love.
Throughout this journey, I found peace in Reiki, a deep, quiet solace that held me from the first moment I knew. The calm it brought was like a soft hand on my heart, reminding me that, no matter what, there was still peace within me.
Pregnancy is a deeply personal experience—no two stories are the same. It’s a sacred time, a metamorphosis that challenges us on every level. Our bodies shift, our emotions rise and fall, and our lives transform in ways we can never fully prepare for. Yet despite the challenges, my sweet baby brought me nothing but serenity. No nausea, no discomfort, just the steady rhythm of life quietly growing within me. I want to dedicate this to him, my calm and peaceful child, whose spirit I believe still moves through the world, surrounding me with love and grace. His ashes now rest in a shrine near Akashi, Japan, where his gentle soul remains close to my heart.
After losing my precious baby boy, my partner and I knew in our hearts that we still dreamed of building our family. When I consulted my doctor, he recommended IVF treatments, taking my age into consideration. The journey was intense - countless check-ups, hormone injections, and various medications became part of my daily life. Through it all, we were blessed with several healthy eggs for the treatment.
The universe seemed to smile upon us when I became pregnant on our first attempt. Everything felt perfect, and tears of joy flowed freely when I heard that precious heartbeat. But fate had other plans. Around week 8, though I didn't know it then, my baby's heart had stopped beating. It was a missed miscarriage - silent and without warning. No pain, no bleeding - nothing to signal that my little one had slipped away. The truth only emerged during my routine check-up at week 9. Leaving the clinic that day, shattered and in shock, I felt the weight of loss crushing me once again.
For those walking this difficult path - in whatever form your loss has taken - please know you are not alone. Whether you're seeking inner peace, a quiet moment to breathe, or simply a companion for this journey, I'm here to offer my hand. Reiki became my sanctuary in my darkest moments, bringing calm when I needed it most. It would be my honour to share this healing practice with you.
Miscarriage creates profound waves of pain that ripple through both body and spirit. During this vulnerable time, Reiki can offer gentle, nurturing support in multiple ways:
Physical Healing
Emotional Support
Mental Wellbeing
Spiritual Connection
From my personal experience, regular Reiki sessions became my anchor during the healing journey after loss. The gentle, non-invasive nature of Reiki provided exactly what I needed during such a sensitive time - comfort without pressure, healing without words.
While well-meaning friends and family tried to help, I discovered that unless someone has walked this path themselves, they often struggle to truly understand the depth of our grief. Sometimes their attempts to comfort could inadvertently cause more pain, making me feel even more isolated in my experience.
Reiki offered something different: a sacred space where I could simply be with my feelings without explanation or justification. There was no need to put my grief into words or make others comfortable with my pain. In the quiet moments of each session, I found permission to heal at my own pace, in my own way. This gentle practice helped me reconnect with myself and find moments of peace when they seemed impossible to find elsewhere.
Because of my personal journey through loss and healing, I feel called to share Reiki with other women walking this difficult path. I understand the deep pain, the silent struggles, and the loneliness that can come with pregnancy loss. Through offering Reiki, I hope to create a safe haven where women can find gentle support, understanding, and healing without judgment or pressure.
By sharing this healing practice that brought me comfort during my darkest moments, I aim to stand beside other mothers as they navigate their own healing journey. Together, we can find strength, peace, and eventually, a way forward - all while honoring our angels and our experiences. No two paths are identical, but in sharing this sacred space, we can support each other as we learn to carry our grief and continue living with open hearts.
I discovered Reiki serendipitously in 2018 when I accompanied my best friend to a class. Without any prior knowledge or research, I stepped into what would become a transformative journey. During my very first session, I experienced such powerful physical sensations that I knew I had found something special. The practice brought unexpected gifts—my anxiety softened, my insomnia eased, and I discovered a newfound sense of peace and calm.
This initial encounter sparked a deeper exploration that led me across Asia. I studied under various masters and schools throughout Taiwan and Japan—from the bustling streets of Osaka to the serene temples of Kyoto and the historic landscapes of Ishikawa. Through these diverse experiences, I found my spiritual home in Gendai Reiki, a style that deeply aligns with my personal values and approach to life. What drew me to Gendai Reiki was its emphasis on daily practice with a kind and calm heart, rather than focusing on the mystical aspects of Usui Sensei's past. I believe Reiki is a gift from the universe through the profound teachings of Usui Sensei—we need only trust the universe and let go of our ego. I've been practicing ever since.

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing technique that originated in Japan. The word "Reiki" can be translated as "universal life energy." This practice is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy flows through us, and when this energy is low, we're more likely to feel stressed or unwell.
As a Reiki practitioner, I act as a channel for this healing energy. During a session, I use specific hand positions either on or above your body (or, in the case of distance reiki, I focus on your energy from afar). This helps to:
Clear energy blockages Promote relaxation and reduce stress Support your body's natural healing processes Balance your emotions and enhance overall well-beingReiki is not tied to any specific religion or belief system. It's a complementary practice that can be used alongside traditional medical treatments and is safe for everyone, including pregnant women and new mothers.
What is Distance Reiki?
Distance reiki operates on the fundamental principle that energy transcends physical boundaries of time and space. Just as loving thoughts and prayers can be felt across great distances, a certified reiki practitioner can channel healing energy to anyone, anywhere in the world. The effectiveness of the healing is not diminished by distance. This powerful healing modality allows you to receive all the benefits of a reiki session from the comfort and safety of your own home.
As universal energy knows no boundaries, distance reiki can be effectively practiced regardless of physical location or time zones.
During your session, you're invited to simply rest and receive. While no specific actions are required on your part, creating a peaceful environment—whether relaxing on your sofa or lying in bed—can enhance your experience.
